WORKING DOGS
Dogs have developed different tasks for man along the history. Many breeds included into this group come from the times in which the dogs were used as guardian of settlements, shooting animals or a military weapon. The Mastiff's ancestors have been to the man's service for many centuries. From 10 thousand years ago, their descendants have defended our folks from wolves and bears. On the other side, Shepherd dogs are as ancient and stock breeding.
The protection and conduction of the cows and sheep have produced so many canine breeds and such specialization in the duties that on January 1st. 1999, it was decided to classify the Shepherd dogs as an independent group in the United Kingdom. In 1983, the American Kennel Club had already declared the sub group of the Shepherd dogs as independent and they can be divided into many branches at the same time, as we will see after mentioning some examples of working dogs that have never been used in the protection of flock or pasturing, properly said.

The shooting dog is a typical example of a working dog as the Siberian husky and the Alaskan Malamutes that were used to drag heavy loads on sleighs under extremely dangerous conditions. The fishermen's dogs are less typical as for example the Portuguese water dog that was used to recover the nets that the fishermen left in the water. Another famous type is the rescue dog as the Saint Bernard that used to search for the lost travelers and rescue them from the snow. It used to revive them with the brandy it kept hanging in a little barrel it had around its neck. Other ancient duties as guarding and protecting are still being designed for dogs nowadays: the Doberman pinscher, excellent guardian dog in the past, is still fulfilling the same tasks with the same efficiency up to now. clothes dog winter
WORKING DOGS AS PETS
The Shepherd dogs, as well as working dogs properly said, are frequently robust, strong and vigorous, besides being intelligent. All of these virtues together turn to be a problem because they really need to exercise their muscles and their brain. If their talent is not canalized any other way, a Shepherd dog can end up considering the cyclist and the people that go to the park to jog as separated cattle and act consequently. As a counterpart, these dogs totally identification themselves with their masters and are absolutely loyal. The Shepherd and working dogs also use to have a very thick coat because they frequently worked outdoors, suffering all kind of inclemency and their coats give their current masters a lot of work.
