WELSH SPRINGER SPANIEL Puppy Dogs
This unmistakable Welsh Spaniel with white and red coat was already described in the medieval period, in the Laws of Wales, even when it was not officially recognized as a breed until around the year 1990. In Wales it used to be called the starter because of its ability to frighten off- and therefore flush out- the hunt.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This loyal and hard work loving Spaniel is as good hunter as company dog. It has a happy character as the tireless movement of its restless tail shows; it can cause problems because of its very sharp sense of smell and its deep-rooted hunting
instincts if it is not trained from a very young age. It can be kind of mischievous, but the Welsh Springer is almost never nervous or aggressive.
It is usually very sociable with humans, enjoys their company and hates being left alone. It gets really well adapted to the city life as long as it is allowed to exercise enough.
PHYSICAL ASPECT
Its coat, thick, straight and silky has the strange quality of not getting really dirty and always combines the bright red with the partly white. Medium size eyes, hazel or dark. Its small ears, placed low and hanging very close to the cheeks, should narrow to the tip; It should never have the tail over the back line. Firm, rounded cat feet, with hard and resistant pads. Strong and muscular body.
