They are many the times that there has not been possible to give the right treatment to the animal for not taking him right away to the veterinarian. 

It is difficult, sometimes, to know the moment when the dog starts feeling bad, we generally realize in a phase something advanced and we make the serious mistake then of seeking to wait that the dog would heal alone, and it doesn't usually happen; time has been given for the illness to get worse, if from the beginning, we had care for it appropriately, it would not have had consequences.

It can be of great utility to observe with certain frequency the puppy; any small setback that can have relationship with its health, for example: lack of desires of playing, lost of appetite, sensation that he finds difficult to swallow, abundant mucosity, cough of any class, etc., anyone of these symptoms we should consult it quickly with the veterinarian. Another extremely important thing is the aspect of the dog's feces. They should not be liquid and, if is under normal conditions make sure it doesn't pass more than one day without evacuating. Let us try to observe all these things that are the first ones that the doctor will ask and, if we don't have the smallest idea, we will hinder, and in occasions the diagnoses will take longer. 

Another important factor that can determine that a dog is sick is the thermometer, the temperature should be taken so that we don't make a mistake in our appreciation. We will obtain the temperature of the dog by introducing the thermometer in the rectum, but we should have precaution not to break it. We will take the temperature when the animal is in rest and a least one hour after running; do not take the temperature when the dog is digesting. Under normal conditions the puppy will have 38.5º C, but up to the 39º it can be considered abnormal; in the mature dog 39º a temperature can be considered something high, without been a fever. So bad it is to have a high fever as being very under the level, since this indicates a lost of defenses and would be vulnerable under this conditions.

Under normal conditions there is no reasons that we control the temperatures, we will only do it when we believe that there is some symptom that justifies our sense of the danger. In the event of a quick evolution in the development of an illness, we can explain the doctor telephonically the symptoms and the events that happen, this way he can prescribe some product, as long as he comes to our home, or we take it to his. 

Let us not get scared too much if one day we see that our dog vomits, it can be due to many reasons, most of the times is he eat without chewing and the pieces, where too big, and was not able to digest them, for that reason he vomits to eat it again, chewing them then a little. In case he has for habit to vomit with certain frequency, we will take it to the doctor so that he examines it; it can be a very different case.
