Schipperke Puppies & Dogs
It comes from Belgium and Holland, where it was recognized as a breed many centuries ago. During some time, it was used as a guardian of boats that went through the channel, alarm against intruders and rat and vermin's exterminator. Its name is determined by those tasks since Schipperke means, "little captain" in Flemish. There probably was a relation with the German Shepherd, but it was not very close.
GENERAL Dog DESCRIPTION
Small and compact, lively and smart, it is a company dog. And it is even easy to keep its coat clean. Like almost any other dog,
it loves the physical exercise of any type. It is always alerting, distrustful of strangers and frequently naughty. Loyal with the whole family and avid to learn, but a little too fiery and barks often.
PHYSICAL ASPECT of Dogs
Thick and shiny coat, rough to the touch, pointy around the neck and more bulky around the thighs and the back. Any uniform color is accepted, but black is most common. Dark brown eyes, very vivid. Stiff, firm ears that don't fold. It sometimes gets the tail amputated and some others it is already born without it. Small cat feet. Wide deep chest.
