life span of dog breed
Even when the dog reaches sexual maturity between six and fourteen months, they can continue growing and psychologically developing for a longer period of time. Miniature dogs can mature faster than the big ones, specially when referring to gigantic breeds as the Newfoundland and the Pyrenees Mountain Dog that can't be considered properly adult dogs sometimes until they are three years old. The psychological maturity, on the other hand, takes sometimes longer to reach completely.
The owner of such exuberant breeds as the Boxer for example, frequently wonder if their dogs are seriously considering to never get old. In this period, the dog continues to learn and establish their roles, either in their familiar environment or in their relations with other dogs. It is probable that the problems between the female and male dogs and also with the other dogs living in the house won't appear until the 3 or 4 years of age. Even when it is not very frequent, sometimes the young dog may try to get the dominant dog role from the oldest dog when the first one reaches the necessary maturity to realize its own status. |
