KERRY BLUE TERRIER
Originally bred in the Irish county of Kerry as a buzzard, it was also used as a multiuse farm dog and it is an excellent guardian. The first historical document in which it is mentioned comes from the XIX century, but it is very probable that the breed existed long before that.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Kerry is born black. Its coat acquires the character bluish tinge in a progressive way up two years of age. They are healthy long-living dogs, ideal for people who hate having hair all over their house because then don't molt. They can be self-willed and obstinate, but if they are trained and treated firmly they can become playful, affective and totally reliable friends.
PHYSICAL ASPECT
The blue tinge of the coat distinguishes this breed from any other. Sometimes it is not appreciated, because it is hidden by a thick exterior black layer and surprisingly appears after the first hair cut. Keeping its coat properly cared requires professional care and abilities. Tiny, dark eyes. Clearly shaped ears, very little as well with a pointy end and very high.
