If the dog comes from an animal shelter

If the dog comes from an animal shelter

It can be that our budget to acquire a dog doesn't allow us to buy one, if this it is our case and we have gone to an animal shelter society to pick up some animal, let us try to choose one that is healthy; in these places cases of distemper are plentiful, and others suffer of hepatitis and a big majority have stomach illness. If we don't have another dog at home, is not a big deal since it can't contaminate a stranger, but if we have another, we will take cautions so that he doesn't have some of those illnesses.

To avoid risks, when a dog from a shelter society is picked up, the best will be to immediately take it to the veterinarian, to whom we will tell him the origin of the animal, and we will only take it to the house once the doctor sees it convenient, because it could contaminate another dog that lives with us. In only few days, we can observe if the new dog is under good conditions of entering the house without contaminating the other one.

The animal picked up this way, if he never had owner, he will became fond quickly in an extraordinary way, taking at once for master to who the one he considers it. This class of dogs that have lacked owner, or that were abandoned by some unconscious absentminded, they accustom to live more for the master than any other dog of race, however, with these dogs the case is given that its qualities, as well as the aspect is hardly ever transferable genetically, sometimes for not being strong characteristic and others to be ignored which was its true father. For this reason, if we choose a dog of race, for example, a collie, we know that the one has a very sweet character, their intelligence it is extraordinary and difficultly it can change owner because, and when stopping to see him he can die from sadness. The children that are born inside the mentioned race, will give us in general, some very similar characteristics, while, mutt dogs, wont offer the same guarantees of continuity. For that reason, and also for the fact that then they are abandoned as soon as they grow, it is not recommended to raise the mutt dogs and neither to carry out negligent crossings between two different races.

We cannot recommend a certain race to be acquired by somebody undecided that is not defined; neither can we advise blindly that they go directly to a shelter society. It depends, mainly, of our determination of having a dog, but if its for the fact that we want to feel accompanied and we don't have predilection for some certain race, neither we feel contempt for some that is mutt, a very praise worthy posture it will be for one to go as soon as possible to a shelter society and to save this way a poor and unfortunate dog. If we have one of race that lives alone, we can bring him one so that he will feel accompanied, but if that's the case, we will take the measures that we have mention previously.
