ENGLISH MASTIFF AND BULL MASTIFF Dogs

ENGLISH MASTIFF AND BULL MASTIFF

The origin of the Mastiff is very ancient since the ancient Egyptians already knew them. If the Mastiff was used to conduct and protect the flock, the Bull mastiff, produced on the XX century in England by crossing Mastiffs and Bulldogs, was exclusively created to capture those furtive hunters by immobilizing them without hurting or killing them. The Mastiff, as well as the Bullmastiff turned later on into guardian dog and company animals.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Both of them have a great body (the Mastiff is one of the most robust breeds in the whole world), of a massive and powerful aspect and an unmistakable wrinkled and frowned forehead. Both of them are quiet, intelligent and easy to train.

PHYSICAL ASPECT

Short hair of an easy maintenance in both cases. The Mastiff is usually apricot or of different silver and fire tones, barcine or not. The Bull mastiff can be spotted, from fawn to red. Both of them have a black snout that clears in the direction of the eyes until it gets even with the color of the face. Deep set brown eyes, underlined by a dark spot on the shape of a mask and by the eye brown. "V" shaped ears. The tail is placed high, either straight or curved. Very big rounded feet with back nails.
