DEERHOUND Dogs
The Deerhound, istraditional hunting dog of the Scottish High Lands, also appears in ancient pictures, sleeping at the feet of the great lords. When hunting deer with shotguns came on vogue, this breed was about to disappear, but the determination of the breeders has made this aristocrat canine to survive up to our days.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Even when it is strong enough to pounce a deer, its very soft and delicate manners make a perfect company dog out of it, but it need to exercise a lot. Extremely sweet and affectionate, loyal and dedicated, its character has almost no defects, except that you have to keep an eye on it when there is cattle around
PHYSICAL ASPECT
The coat should be rough at touch and with kind of a messy aspect. Dark eyes, with a black border on the eyelids.
Ears placed high, folded backwards and, contrary from the rest of the coat, shining and soft at touch. Deep chest, well arched coat, kidney fallen to the tail. The tail should be long, progressively narrowed to the tip (which has to end 2.5 cm from the floor) and should appear curved while the dog is in motion. Compact feet, with very marked knuckles.
