CLUMBER SPANIEL AND FIELD SPANIEL Puppy Dogs
The Clumber is the most corpulent of the Spaniels. Bred in France by the duke of Noailles, who used it as beater and retriever, it was taken by him to Clumber Park, near Newcastle, England, where its name originated. All the hunting Spaniels were called Field Spaniels in its days, but this denomination currently includes only the taller ones.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Clumber is a great retriever; it has great olfative sharpness, but its lazy by nature, so you have to deliberately make an effort to keep it active. It is a good company dog, but it is not adequate to live in very small houses.
The Field Spaniel grows enormously fond of members of its family, but it can be distrustful with strangers. Despite its sociable and docile character, it can cause problems at an adult age if you don't get it used to be in touch with other animals since it is very young. Dog Leashes
