BLOODHOUND AND COONHOUND Dogs
The olfative sharpness of the Bloodhound, originated in Belgium and one of the most ancient trackers, is proverbial. The Coonhound was bred in North America to hunt bears and raccoons by making it climb on trees. When they had it rounded up like that, they used to call the hunter by using their characteristic barking.
GENERAL Dog DESCRIPTION
The Bloodhound, extraordinarily sweet and affectionate, really needs human company.
Both breeds need to exercise a lot and can't cope with city life. They are usually obedient, but when they find an olfative trace they turn deaf to their master's calling. The Coonhounds usually have an even character, but the Coonhound Wainer and the English Coonhound tend to be extremely excitable.
PHYSICAL Dogs ASPECT
Both breeds have very short and thick hair. The Bloodhound should have dark eyes and medium in size. The Coonhound's are from hazel to dark. Long and hanging ears placed low. The Bloodhound should have a long and robust tail and very strong feet with pronounced knuckles.
The Coonhound's tail should be placed right under the back line and very compact feet. Both are strong and muscular, with wide and pronounced ribs. Seen from the front part, the Bloodhound should show a lot of chest between its paws.
