BASSET HOUND & PETIT BASSET GRIFFON VENDEEN (PBGV) Dogs
The Basset, originated in medieval France, was modified by the British, who bred it with short paws to make it easier for the hunters to follow the dog while they were following the trace of hares. According to some expert's opinion, the PBGV had been originated as the product of a mixture between the Basset and a breed called Beaver Hound which is currently extinct.
GENERAL Dogs DESCRIPTIONS
Its sad expression fools everybody because it is happy and outgoing, besides being an excellent partner, It needs to exercise because of its tendency to get fat. It is convenient to keep the garden well locked, because it's tracking instinct forces it to investigate any interesting smell it may catch in the air.
Dog PHYSICAL ASPECT
Short and soft coat, normally black, white and fire or lemon and white. The PBGV has hard hair and white in color with orange, lemon, tricolor or graying spots. The Basset's lower eyelid lets the red color of the corner of the eyes show; its ears are long and velvety. The eyes of the PBGV are dark, very big and its ears have to be as long that their edges of should touch the truffle. The Basset has a long and straight tail and big feet with pronounced knuckles. The PBGV has the tail in saber, of a medium size. The Basset has the body elongated and a wide back and the PBGV, a deep chest and the back neither too long nor too short.
