BASIC Dog Supplies and Equipment

Before going to get your new pet, make sure you have the most basic equipment at home, ready to be used. The collar and the lead are mandatory, even when we are talking about a puppy. In many countries it is a must to attach an identification tag to the lead, containing the owner's name, address and phone number, but it is always recommendable to use it even when it is not mandatory.

When the dog arrives home, there should be two bowls available, one of which should already be on the floor, filled with water, so the dog can drink when it is thirsty. Dogs need to know the exact place where their water is, reason why it is suggested to keep it always in the same spot. The breeder or the shelter's people should have told you what kind of dog food they were providing your new pet with; have some of the dog's habitual food available as soon as it arrives. Even if you are planning to change your dog's diet in a future, it is important to provide it with the same food during the first days. The stress can cause digestive problems and it is better not to make things worst by changing the diet all of a sudden. Your dog will also need a place to sleep, a place it can consider its particular hideout and it is recommended to have it already prepared so you can show it to the dog as soon as it arrives home.

It is also recommended for the dog to find toys or treats when it arrives because this will contribute to make it feel at home... and don't forget to have some old newspapers at hand, just in case any "accident" may happen. dog training shock collar

WHEN YOU PICK UP THE DOG

Before going to pick up the dog, think about the way you will fasten it on the way home. If you are going by car, you may need someone to help you up with the dog while you are driving back. Don't forget to take some old newspapers, tissues and some plastic bags with you because some of the dogs may feel sick during the trip. Dogs usually relax when they are in the dark, so it is a good idea to partially cover the kennel or transportation bag. The dog will also feel more secure standing on a firm surface than being on the soft rear seat of the car.
