AKITA INU
It belongs to the Spitz branch. It was used in Japan for more than three hundred years, first as a combat dog and after the prohibition of dogfights, to hunt deer, wild boars and black bears. There was a time in which only the members of the royal house and nobility were allowed to have these dogs and since 1931 the champions of the breed are considered a national treasure in Japan.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This animal, majestic and potent, is intelligent and sociable, with strong hunting instincts and a good guardian dog that doesn't bark excessively. It has to be kept physically and mentally busy and it can be very independent, so it needs owners that are able to cope with it.
PHYSICAL ASPECT
Hard and straight exterior hair of any color, including white and spotted. Almond eyes of a dark brown color with a dark border on the eyelids. Small and straight ears. The tail should be totally turned to the back forming a complete or double curl. Thick feet with very marked knuckleand hard pads. Wide and deep chest, straight back and muscular abdominal cavity.
